Today we will make the tastiest potato dish with turkey and a creamy white sause and cheese, we will make the white sauce without using any cream, just with milk something simolar to bachamel sauce but with the consistency of cooking cream a great dish thateveryone will love.
7 potatoes – 2 kg
200 grams turkey slices
3 ½ cup liquid milk
1 ½ tablespoon of flour
3 ½ tablespoon butter
1 teaspoon of oregano
1 ½ teaspoon black pepper and paprika
1 teaspoon mustard
Salt as needed
Pinch of chopped parsley
200g mozzarella cheese
Start with 7 potatoes, peel and wash then cut them into medium-sized cubes, add salt then fry in hot oil, fry then in the usual way, once it’s golden, remove them from the oil and transfer to oil absorption paper.
Now to prepare the budget-friendly cream without using cream we need 3 1/2 tbsp. butter, melt them then add 1 1/2 tbsp. flour, mix them together until the flour is lightly fried then gradualy add 3 1/2 cups milk until the flour is completely dissolved, keep the sauce on medium heat until it boils, then add 1 tsp. oregano and 1/2 tsp. black pepper and 1/2. paprika and 1 tsp. mustard, it adds a very nice flavor and salt as needed, leave the sauce on the heat for 5 minutes after boiling until it’s not watery, but we don’t want it too be thick lastly add some chopped parsley to add flavor and make the look nice turn off the heat, it will get thicker when it gets colder.
Add the fried potato in the pan then on it add the turkey slices, I’m using 200g, you can use any other types of cold cuts, and leave some potato to add on the turkey, it looks nice under the cream and cheese, after that pour all the cream prepared earlier on the potato and turkey, the consistency of the cream is similar to cooking cream, it’s not too thick that’s why we don’t add too much flour in this recipe, it will come out light and not too thick and dense make sure the cream is properly distributed then add mozzarella cheese on the surface, I it’s optionalm using 200g then sprinkle some oregano, bake it at 180 degrees on the middle oven rack with the heat from the botton for 20 minutes until the cheese melts.
Now the dish is ready for serving, broil it a little bit if needed, but don’t over bake it or the cheese will be dry and not stretchy.
